Support for Elizabeth Ward in Uganda

Every year, Pam and Steve organise and run a fundraising takeaway quiz to raise money for Mildmay, specifically for Elizabeth Ward in Uganda. We have just received the proceeds of their most recent quiz, a wonderful £2,324.75.

Elizabeth Ward, in the paediatric care centre of Mildmay Hospital, Kampala, is the only facility in the region providing high-quality care to children with the most complex cases of HIV-associated health conditions.

Mildmay Uganda was Mildmay’s first international programme, opening in Kampala in 1998 as a Centre of Excellence for provision of comprehensive HIV & AIDS prevention, care, treatment and training services. Since then, it has grown to be an independent organisation with a reach of nearly six and a half million.

Despite this, Elizabeth Ward is entirely supported by charitable donations made here in the UK. It costs £10 per child, per day, to provide the inpatient care these children need, yet these services are FREE to the patient and their family.

Every year, we hope to send at least £20,000 to support Elizabeth Ward, and Pam and Steve's efforts have raised over 10% of what we need to raise.

So thank you, from everyone in the Mildmay Family, to everyone who took part in the quiz and raised such an amazing amount. But special thanks to Pam and Steve, who have been supporting Mildmay for very nearly twenty years, and have donated an incredible £32,000 in that time. You are official Mildmay superstars.
