Mandy Day-Calder
Enjoying a few days in London so myself and my partner decided to take a trip down memory lane…
We visited Mildmay Mission Hospital in Shoreditch. Amazingly we both worked there in the early 90s- but missed each other by 6 months. We weren’t destined to meet for another 10+ years.. 💖 Anyway back to Mildmay. Fresh from my training, I had the pleasure of working there as a Staff Nurse in 1993/94 amongst a team of skilled and empathic nurses. Working in HIV/AIDs was deeply challenging yet also immensely rewarding. The physical building of Mildmay is barely recognisable as its had a makeover (or 2) over the decades. But we started to reflect on all the changes in healthcare over the years. The good, the bad and the sheer pointless. One thing is for sure, nothing stands still for long. I feel very lucky to have had such good and compassionate foundations for my career. Even luckier to still feel so passionate about quality and dignified care.
Back to memory lane… Pic of Mildmay from back in the day.
