"You may be interested to know that about 130 years ago (c1890) my grandfather’s parents were smuggled out of the Jewish ghetto in Warsaw and brought to the East End of London by the Mildmay Organisation.

My great grandfather then became a missionary for the Mildmay Organisation but died very early in South Africa around 1896.

My grandfather was looked after by the Mildmay Mission in Philpott Street for a number of years between 1895-1905.

My great grandmother remarried in 1899 at Central Hall and also became a missionary for Mildmay. She remained working with the Mission and later the Barbican Mission, passing away in 1940.

I know that Mildmay is a rather different charity now, but we would like to give you a donation in recognition of support over 125 years ago."
