“My first impressions of Mildmay are, that here is a great team of dedicated people who are deeply invested in and committed to the work they do.”
We are delighted to welcome our new CEO Geoff Coleman, who will lead Mildmay from June 2018. Geoff has a wealth of experience of leadership both within the health service and the charity sector.
For the past ten years Geoff has headed two charities as CEO. Prior to that he spent twenty years working within the NHS, most recently as an NHS Director at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, where he was responsible for a wide range of clinical services. He was also Director of Informatics for all NHS services across Oxfordshire.
Geoff said:“ I am delighted to have joined Mildmay, an incredible charity that transforms so many lives through their work in the UK and in East Africa. When I applied for the position of CEO I felt this role would bring an opportunity for me to combine some of the things I feel passionate about – working within a UK health-care setting, working for a charity and working in Africa. My own church has been sponsoring medical mission in Africa and India for many years and I look forward to being able to play an active role in steering and supporting Mildmay’s work in East Africa as well as in the UK.
Mildmay’s impact and mission to reach out to those in greatest need is a demonstration of the Christian values that are so important in my own life and I am looking forward to leading this great charity, working with a great team and continuing their outstanding work.”
Our ears pricked up when Geoff told us that his love of climbing has inspired him to take on the three-peaks-challenge on many occasions! With Geoff at the helm we think this challenge could work its way into our fundraisng calendar very soon!
Geoff is taking over from Mildmay’s previous Chief Executive, Dr Ross White who stepped down after nine years at the charity to take up a new CEO position.
In 2017 Mildmay was rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.
