"I was saddened to hear the news of Helen’s passing. Helen was an amazing woman, I remember her work with Mildmay well – dedicated and driven. She led a fascinating and full life, rightly earning her spot in the BBC’s 100 women who have made an impact list.
Her legacy will of course live on through the great work that Mildmay continue to do, helping and supporting those with HIV/AIDS. "
Helen Taylor Thompson was elected to the board of the Mildmay Mission Hospital in 1952 and afterwards sat on a number of Government NHS committees.
She later fought the closure of the Mildmay Hospital and became its chair when it reopened as the first hospice in Europe for people living with AIDS in 1988.
Helen passed away on 6 September 2020 and is very much missed.
