Notes:

I have come across a tantalisingly brief reference to the Mildmay Hospital, and to someone training to be a 'deaconess' there in c. 1900.

The person was called Harriet Euphemia Lindsay, though she went by 'Effie', and was the eldest daughter of an MP, Sir Coutts Lindsay, and his first wife, Caroline 'Blanche' (nee FitzRoy), who were the founders of a London gallery, the Grosvenor Gallery. Effie's life dates are not known, but her birthday was recorded by one of her children (Robert Henrey), as 15 May, 1865. Effie grew up in Hans Place (Knightsbridge). She must have died after 1937, as he thanks 'his mother' in the present tense in the acknowledgements of a book he published that year . Please see attached the relevant page (p. 242) in Robert Henrey's A Century Between(London: 1937) which describes his mother's arrival (and departure for Brentford) from the 'Mildmay in the North of London'.
