Clinical Fridges

Clinical Fridges

From £600 per unit

Clinical fridges, also known as medical fridges, are specialised refrigerators essential for maintaining the cold chain required to store medications and other temperature-sensitive medical supplies. Unlike regular fridges, these units maintain a stable temperature range, typically between 2°C and 8°C, ensuring that medications remain safe and effective for patient use. Without these fridges, medications could degrade, lose potency, and put patient safety at risk.

At Mildmay Hospital, we have several clinical fridges located in our wards and clinical areas, all of which are now aging and nearing the end of their useful life. One of our fridges requires immediate replacement, but due to their age, all of our fridges will need to be replaced over time. This will incur a considerable cost to the hospital.

Features

  • Precise Temperature Monitoring: They often have digital temperature displays and alarms to alert staff if the temperature deviates from the required range.

  • Audible and Visual Alarms: Alarms alert staff to temperature fluctuations or power failures, ensuring prompt action to protect medications.

  • Locking Mechanisms: They may have locking doors to prevent unauthorized access to medications.

  • Data Logging: Some models have data logging capabilities to record temperature fluctuations for regulatory compliance and quality control.

  • Backup Power: Some models have backup power systems to maintain temperature during power outages.
