About the Event
The London Walk is a sponsored night walk through London to raise funds for homelessness charities. Starting and finishing at St Martin’s in-the-Fields Church with a variety of distances available for people; 10k, half marathon and marathon length routes
Places cost £25 each and the fundraising targets are £150 for the 10k, £250 for the half marathon and £350 for the marathon length. All funds raised will go to your favourite homeless charity
We are aiming for 500 people to participate and raise money for their chosen charities (Mildmay - of course). We are aiming to raise at least £250,000 across the sector.
We’ll be starting from the Café in the Crypt under St Martin’s Church and there will be pre-event entertainment and activities – providing the opportunity for you to meet with your fellow walkers beforehand in a more relaxed setting with opportunities to understand more about homelessness and rough sleeping.
Homelessness is increasing in London, recent statistics show it’s up 40% since 2010. Whilst the need is rising, homelessness services have decreased due to funding cuts. Leaving people vulnerable to extended periods of homelessness, which has a detrimental impact on their physical and mental health. The London Homeless Collective brings charities together from pavement to policy. Collectively, the group shares ideas, experience, and opportunities and work together to ensure that nobody is left behind.
