Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Mildmay to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Mildmay we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Mildmay to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Mildmay will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Mildmay receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

"Long-term HIV care is proving more challenging and complex than we ever imagined."

"Mildmay helps to bring new hope to thousands caught up in the continuing HIV crisis. Not only does it provide the UK with a facility for specialist rehabilitation and capacity-building training, it also supports inspiring treatment and education programmes across East Africa.

I urge you to join me in supporting their work."

Dame Judi Dench CH DBE FRSA

Help us to invest in Mildmay's future.

Mildmay supports the delivery of holistic and sustainable health care services to communities through community participation and a strengthened health system.

Our day-to-day work focuses on enabling people living with poverty and disease to have life in all its fullness.

Mildmay UK provides annual funding for Elizabeth Ward in the paediatric care centre of Mildmay Hospital in Kampala.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, Mildmay is playing its part to help ease the burden on NHS acute hospitals

Despite being at risk of closure, we continue to care for sick and vulnerable people as we have been doing for over 150 years.

£50 will pay for:

Training a Community Health Worker in Kenya

It costs approximately £49 per day to train a community health worker (CHW) in Kenya and each CHW covers up to 144 households. On average that equals 720 people reached by one person.

The support given to communities is enormous and is particularly important for those in remote, hard to reach areas.

The work covers support with antenatal care, cervical screening, HIV education and prevention, supports for children, orphans or vulnerable and high risk groups.

Ways to give

Whether you make a single or regular donation, or leave a gift in your Will, every penny helps us to deliver quality care and treatment, prevention work, rehabilitation training, education and health strengthening in the UK and East Africa.

Regular giving

Regular donations by Direct Debit or Standing Order help us plan for the future, as we know how much we'll receive each month.

Set up a monthly Direct Debit

We can easily set up a Direct Debit for you. Just call us on 020 7613 6300 or email the Charity Office with your details.

What information we'll need from you:

  • Your name and address
  • Telephone and email
  • Your bank's name, your account number and sort code
  • The amount you wish to donate, and how often (e.g. monthly, annually).

Alternatively, download the Direct Debit Instruction form, fill it in and post or email it back to us. Everything you need to know is on the form.

Managing your Direct Debit

You can pause it, change the amount, take a payment holiday, and update any contact details yourself.

Set up a Standing Order

A standing order is an automated method of making payments. You can instruct your bank to pay Mildmay UK donation of a fixed amount of money at regular (fixed) intervals.

If you are a UK taxpayer you can complete a Gift Aid Declaration either when you give online or when you set up a direct debit payment.

This means we can claim back the tax on your donation from the Government and every £1 you donate is worth £1.25 to Mildmay.

Just look out for the Gift Aid logo, and wherever you see it, sign!

Mildmay’s work is supported by the generosity of thousands of individuals like you, as well as companies, charitable trusts, churches and other organisations and community groups.

Every single contribution that you make to our work in either the UK or Africa impacts the lives of the most vulnerable people - those for which our founders, the Reverend William Pennefather and Catherine, his wife, established Mildmay over 150 years ago.

Mildmay Mission Hospital needs to raise funds for many charitable purposes.
